Delaware Beach Vacation

We went to Delaware for a week to visit the beach. We stayed in a house with my parents, Phil & Kathy, and Aunt Sara’s family – 17 people in all! The house was in Broadkill Beach, DE, and was pretty nice. It was a fun week and went way too quickly!

Day 1: We arrived and got settled. The kids wasted no time exploring the beach behind the house and starting their shell and rock collections.

Day 2: More playing on the beach and shell collecting! We rounded out the day with a fire in the fire pit and s’mores.

Day 3: It was a little rainy on Tuesday, so the kids just put on jackets and did some beach exploring! Some of the grownups went to explore the outlet mall in Rehoboth for a while.

Day 4: Got up early to head south to try to find some good shells or sand dollars at Bethany Beach. We struck out on the good shells and sand dollars, but Kathy spotted some dolphins playing in the surf just a little ways off the shore. That made the early morning worth while! In the afternoon, we took the kids for a visit to the Boardwalk in Rehoboth. The girls and I got henna tattoos on our hands. Molly spotted an orange beach cruiser at a bike shop and wanted to get it for Scott – we settled for a photo instead 🙂

Day 5: We went to play Mini Golf with Phil & Kathy and family in the afternoon. The course was just right – not too easy or too hard. It wasn’t too busy either, which was good since we had 9 people in our group! Had another fire in the evening and of course, s’mores!

Day 6: Last day of vacation – it went too fast! Hung out around the house to let the kids just relax and enjoy the beach some more. Kassidy taught Megan to play chess. Scott and I went out to the boardwalk in Rehoboth with Phil and Kathy and had dinner at Dogfish Head Brewery.
