Sprinkling the Girls

Since today was the second day with temperatures in the upper 80's, the girls were begging to get the sprinkler out. They had a blast getting wet and were sad when it was time to turn it off. The neighbor kids came over and joined in the fun too!

We have tulips!

Last summer, our neighbors dug out about a hundred tulip bulbs before they rearranged their flower beds, and gave them to us because we had always admired them. In the fall, Megan and I put them all into the flower bed out front, and we've been waiting ever since. Earlier this spring, when the little plants started to poke out, we were both so excited. Day by day, they've come closer and closer to blooming, and finally we have tulips!

Meenny

I'm not quite sure how we should take this. I spotted this hand-written by Megan note on the fridge the other day. It just made me laugh. I wonder who she was mad at?

Reading

I thought the girls were too cute as they both sat there snuggled under the blankets with their books. Megan's reading has improved by leaps and bounds this year. She checked this book (The Ugly Duckling) out of the library at the beginning of the year and was overwhelmed by the length and difficulty. Now, she's sitting there reading the entire thing, by herself! It has been amazing to watch her learn and grow so much with her reading skills.

Molly is at the stage where she memorizes her books. She has recited the entire Pinkilicious book as she's sat there with Megan. It's so neat to see how they both love their books. I'm so glad that it is a habit that Scott and I have passed on to both of our girls!

Look Ma, no Training Wheels!

Two summers ago, Scott took the training wheels of Megan's bike at her request, and she did great. But then there was a school event that required her to ride around the school playground. For that, he put them back on, because her control wasn't quite that good yet. Then last summer, she refused to ride without them. But we knew she could do it...just didn't want to.

So this spring, Scott put a kick stand on her bike, and took off the training wheels. They spend a few afternoons over at the school parking lot practicing. He said the first few days were a bit rough, but she was determined and stuck with it. Here's the result!

In other cycling news, Molly has also finally figured out how to pedal around on her trike. Thank goodness! I was getting tired of bending over and pushing her around on it!

Both of the girls are so proud of themselves, riding their bikes. We're both really proud of them, too!

Easter Morning

On Easter Morning, the girls were up before us (as always!) and came down to dig into their baskets. The Easter Bunny had also left egg cartons out for them, but they couldn't figure out what to do with them! Once I asked "What would you put in there if you could find it?" Megan started to run around frantically looking for eggs.

Scott had Megan stand up on the couch to get a different perspective to try to spot some eggs. It took a bit, but she finally found them!

When Molly discovered what was inside the eggs she was thrilled!
