Fall Fun Crafty Day!

The girls were in need of some craftiness, so after getting them to help me clean up the craft cabinet, we did some fun fall projects!

The first project was Megan's idea entirely - she described it to me while we were sorting through art supplies. We traced everyone's hands onto fall-colored construction paper and cut them out. Then Megan helped me staple them around a paper plate with the center cut out. We hung it in the dining room. I was pretty proud of her for coming up with that idea!

Next we took a walk around the neighborhood to collect different types of leaves to do leaf rubbings with. On the way out the door, Molly grabbed Scott's hand and said "You're coming along, right Daddy?" How could he say no? It was fun to be out on a walk with the whole family - we don't do it often enough! The girls collected lots of fun leaves and we did some really nice rubbings of them. Unfortunately, they didn't photograph well.

Last, I had the girls help me sort through the crayons to get out all the peeled and broken ones. Then I stuck a bunch into foil muffin tins and baked them in the oven for a while. They all melted into these really cool multi-colored crayons. The girls love them - I think this might be a fun project for the Daisy troop!

After all this fun, I was exhausted, but it sure was fun to hang out with my girls for the day. We really had a blast!

Apple Picking

Apples

The weather has been so nice that we made our first trip to Paulus Orchards a bit early this year. We picked Jonathon, Gala and Cortland apples. The Cortlands were reserved for pie :)

The girls had fun, but Molly was a bit terrified of the yellow jackets that were hanging out in the orchard around the trees and fallen apples. She was stung a few weeks back, and she's been really leary of them ever since.

The trees had been pretty well picked over when we got there, so it was hard for the girls to find many apples to pick. Megan loved picking from up on her Daddy's shoulders.

Skeleton Girlies!

IMGP2301, originally uploaded by PA_Christie.

I ordered these glow in the dark, skeleton jammies for the girls and they came today. They had to put them on immediately and wore them to bed tonight. They both thought they were the coolest thing. I have a feeling I'm going to get my money's worth out of these things!

On a side note, where did my babies go? Especially when I look at Molly in this picture, I see a big girl. NO baby. Not even a hint. I can't believe she'll be 4 next month. The time has flown.
