Religiosity

Sometimes the world just comes together in weird ways.  Or at least I perceive them to be weird.  It’s all really just circumstance affected by the shit I do and the shit people do around me.  And since I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, I’m probably more tuned to notice it when others think about it, too.  I guess.

I’ve been following Pharyngula lately.  It’s refreshing to read someone who cleary states the things I’d like to say but can’t find the words for.  Granted, he’s a professor of biology and his education outweighs mine by about a gazillion to one.

His Holy Blasphemousness turned me on to the Belief-o-Matic quiz.  Here’s mine.

1.     Nontheist  (100%)
2.     Secular Humanism (100%)
3.     Unitarian Universalism (100%)
4.     Theravada Buddhism (84%)
5.     Liberal Quakers (54%)
6.     Neo-Pagan (42%)
7.     Taoism (26%)
8.     Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (25%)
9.     Hinduism (21%)
10.     Jainism (21%)
11.     Mahayana Buddhism (21%)
12.     Sikhism (21%)
13.     New Age (15%)
14.     Orthodox Judaism (3%)
15.     Reform Judaism (3%)
16.     Baha’i Faith (0%)
17.     Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (0%)
18.     Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (0%)
19.     Eastern Orthodox (0%)
20.     Islam (0%)
21.     Jehovah’s Witness (0%)
22.     Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (0%)
23.     New Thought (0%)
24.     Orthodox Quaker (0%)
25.     Roman Catholic (0%)
26.     Scientology (0%)
27.     Seventh Day Adventist (0%)

This doesn’t surprise me, for the most part, except for #22 and #8.  I tend to fall, politically, just slightly to the right of libertarianism, and I was raised in a conservative Protestant home.   So there’s that.  Anyway, food for thought.

More bikey stuff soon!
